What is Leadership Bedford ?

 
 

Leadership Bedford is a programs developed by the Shelbyville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce. This organization consists of its own Board of Directors and committees who are concerned about the growth and leadership of Bedford County. Leadership Bedford conducts monthly leadership classes from September through May with planned curriculum.

 
   
     
   Why is it important to the community  
 

The success of tomorrow is determined by the current leaders of today. It is imperative to develop and enhance the leadership skills of the future leaders of tomorrow.

 
     
 

How do you become a participant ?

 
 

Participants are selected on their own merits through an application/nomination process. You must have a desire for personal growth opportunities, a commitment to quality leadership in community activities, a desire to improve the quality of life in Bedford County, and be a citizen who wants to learn more about the challenges facing the Bedford County Community.

 
     
 

What will be the topic or curriculum ?

 
 

The program of Leadership Bedford will consist of a day and a half weekend retreat and eight day long seminars. The schedule will have leadership classes including: the art of delegating, handling, problem solving, decision making, identifying and analyzing issues and several other topics relating to communications. Other curriculum involves knowing how the community works including our agriculture, manufacturing, education, medical, city and county government, state legislative and social services.  Each yearly class will be responsible for completing a community project during the academic year.  Upon completing the classes, all participants will graduate and enter alumni association.

 
     
 

Where will the classes be held ?

 
 

The classes will be held at various locations depending on the
curriculum program. Primarily classes will be held in the Bedford County area.

 
     
 

 Who funds the program ?

 
 

The non-profit organization is funded by tuition funds, civic, public and private contributions.
